Literary Pub Crawl Dublin
If you're a fan of both literature and drinking, then the Dublin Literary Pub Crawl is for you! This infamous Dublin activity has been providing loads of fun for its participants since 1988, and now over 20,000 people a year partake in this night of fun.
Pubs have long been known as one of the finest places to indulge in hours of conversation, often fueled by the taste and effect of beer and liquor. Many of Ireland's most famous writers were known to haunt some of Dublin's pubs, and this tour will take you to the places where these greats wrote, drank and dreamed. At one time Dublin had over 4000 pubs where these writers could gather, and although that number has been whittled down to around 850, it still leaves the tour with many pubs to visit.
The tour is led by a group of actors who will serenade you with their extensive knowledge of local history, as well as their reciting of famous poems and passages by the likes of Joyce, Beckett, Behan, Mary Lavin, Oscar Wilde, Eavan Boland and many others. The group walks between many of Dublin's most important historical pubs, and stops for drinks along the way. Whether you're sampling the whiskey or drinking a pint, the atmosphere and energy of this tour is unbeatable.
